Honey Orange Roasted Grapes

There’s nothing quite as satisfying as snacking on cold, crisp (green) grapes on a sunny afternoon. But as autumn and winter roll around, so do all the different red varieties of grapes, just perfect for roasting.

Roasting grapes intensifies they’re grapey flavour, making them taste like a grape and red wine jam! Adding vibrant orange, sweet honey and aromatic cinnamon give these grapes a mulled wine flavour.

Honey Orange Roasted Grapes Recipe Ingredients

Here’s what you’ll need to make this mulled wine-flavoured fruity snack recipe:

  • Grapes. While you can absolutely roast green grapes, the flavour does tend to be less jammy and winey, and more just fermented grapes. Use whatever you prefer, PROVIDED the grapes are seedless, though I would highly recommend using a red variety.
  • Olive oil. I wouldn’t recommend a seed or vegetable oil substitution as it’s the fruitiness and grassiness of olive oil that makes it work in this recipe.
  • Honey. Yes grapes are sweet, but they’re also tart, even when roasted. A little honey helps to caramalise and deepen the concentrated grape flavour in a delightfully moreish way.
  • Orange. Can’t make Honey Orange Roasted Grapes without orange! You’ll need both the rind and juice.
  • Cinnamon. Just a hint, to bring depth of flavour and allow for both a savoury and sweet pairing. Works surprisingly well with a cheese board!

How to Make this Honey Orange Roasted Grapes Recipe

Creating this delicious appetiser or snack is straightforward and quick. Follow these simple steps to achieve perfectly roasted grapes with a honey-orange glaze:

  • Preheat your Oven. Preheat your oven to 210°C. You want a high temperature to get some caramelisation and char happening.
  • Prepare the Grapes. You can absolutely roast the grapes in bunches but once roasted, they’re quite soft and can be messy to separate from the stem. So I suggest picking the grapes off the stem and giving them a good wash and dry with a paper towel before spreading them out on a baking tray.
  • Add the Flavourings. No need to dirty another bowl, just add the olive oil, honey, orange zest and juice and cinnamon right on top of the grapes. Mix well and spread out.
  • Roast. Place the baking tray in the preheated oven and roast the grapes for 20-25 minutes, or until they’re wrinkled and just starting to collapse.
  • Cool and serve. Remove the grapes from the oven and allow them to cool slightly. The grapes will continue to soften as they cool, creating a luscious texture. Enjoy them warm as a snack or cool completely before adding to a cheese or charcuterie board.
