Did you know blood oranges are a natural mutation? They get their distinctive crimson colour from naturally occurring pigments called anthocyanins – the same pigments which gave us purple cauliflower!
Aside from their characteristic colour, blood oranges have a pronounced raspberry taste to them. And if you’re lucky to eat them at the right time, they’re the perfect mix of sweet and tart.
I’ll admit, I’m obsessed. I love citrus season and I love blood oranges, and these are some of my favourite recipes out there!
